We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience whilst gaining on the job qualifications. Clear progression to becoming a fully-qualified CNC Mechanical Engineer.

This rewarding career requires a broad skill set —maths, mechanical design, interpreting technical drawings and programs and an eye for detail.

CNC Machinists work with computer numerical controlled machines (CNC) from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from various metals.

Computer numerical controlled equipment is precision machinery that cuts, grinds, or drills into material. CNC machinists make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well and producing a quality product.

They review the finished product to make sure it is defect free and ready for the next step in production. Machinists in the Manufacturing Engineering sector are predominantly involved in  precision work. They machine components from specialist materials using conventional and/or CNC machine tools.

The range of tools and equipment you may use as part of your daily tasks may include: •CNC Lathes •Vertical and Horizontal Milling Machines •Single and Multi-Axis CNC •Setting cutter depths •Running programs.

What training will I be offered? This position is offered as an apprenticeship and you will be completing a Level 2 / 3 Engineering qualification.

You will be employed directly by us but be supported every step of the way by our accredited training provider.

Throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be required to attend SETA’s training centre for off-the-job training. This will be a 30-month programme, structured as on the job training and day release (1 day a week) of skills training at SETA Ltd where you will complete the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills).

Essential Skills:

To be considered for the role of Mechanical Engineer (CNC)  Apprentice, you will have the following skills and qualifications:3 GCSE’s at grade 4 or above (or equivalents) to include Maths and English are essential.

This is physical job you will need to be fit and want to undertake a very hands on role. Your motivation and drive are the assets that will be best appreciated. You will possess good communication skills with the ability to communicate with colleagues and management.
