This October one of Mini Gears’ apprentices took part in the Annual Chief Executives’ Charity Walk, organised by our engineering training provider, SETA Training & Advisory Services Ltd., for their chosen charity ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’.

This is a wonderful charity that makes dreams come true for sick / terminally ill children and gives precious memories to them and their families.

Talking about memories – how did this year’s walk go?

‘Adverse weather conditions’ says it all. After the endless days of wonderful sunny weather we have had this year, it has to be that when you are taking part in a challenge, the weather decides to join in and give it all it’s got with wind and rain! (It’s tradition)

Last minute change of venue!

The event was planned at its usual venue Lyme Park, but on the morning of the walk, SETA was informed that because of the adverse weather conditions and fallen trees, the park would be closing at 12.00 noon which did not give them enough time to complete the course. An alternative location was needed and the SETA staff and apprentices went ahead with the walk in the wind and rain at Reddish Vale Country Park.

A great day was had by all, even if it was a little soggy. Hopefully plenty of money has been raised with this, SETA’s first event of the academic year. They thank all of the companies who continue to support them in their charity ventures. Next stop ….. Santa Dash on Friday 7th December 2018.
